PMA For Health and Happiness

Is your glass half-full, or half-empty? Do you tend to look on the sunny side, or do you see a future filled with dark, stormy skies?  A growing body of research, such as a National Institutes of Health (NIH) “Positive Emotions and Your Health” study, having a positive outlook can benefit your physical and mental health.  More and more the power of optimism is becoming clear.  Experts continue to find evidence that our expectations, positive or negative, don’t just have psychological effects. If the feelings are positive they have healthy, healing physical effects
as well.

Here is an older 2011 Center Of Disease Control (CDC) “Overcoming Negative Thoughts” research discussing the importance of restraining negative thinking and controlling the “negative spiral”, but what was said back then, still holds true today. Our brain is our most powerful asset, and  we must nurture it with positive, wholesome, affirmative thoughts, by developing and employing  a positive mental attitude (PMA).

This takes acknowledging that negativity is a choice, and we hold the Power From Positive Thinking in our hands, by dismissing negative thoughts.  There is also evidence, according to this 1993 Image Journal Nursing School (NIH) study, that more and more of the public believe that having “PMA” is beneficial to one’s health.

75 percent of the respondents said PMA can prevent illness, and  94 percent agreed that PMA can aid in recovery from illness.   However, fewer agreed that PMA can prevent cancer or aid recovery from cancer although there is ongoing research.

We can actively choose to look on the bright side, and replace pessimism with optimism, by actively and intentionally strengthening our optimism, found a 2013 Experimental Neurobiology (NIH) study. What that means is, it will become increasingly easier over time to naturally look at challenges or negative situations with a fresh perspective. Research is beginning to reveal that positive thinking is about much more than just being happy or displaying an upbeat attitude.

Positive thoughts can actually create real value in your life and help you build skills that last much longer than a smile.  According to a 2011 American Psychology (NIH) study, when you are experiencing positive emotions like joy, contentment, and love, you will see more positive possibilities in your life.

Research findings like 2000 this University Of Michigan (Fredrickson) and the American Psychological Association “Cultivating Positive Emotions To Optimize Health and Well Being” study, have proven that positive emotions not only build and broaden your sense of possibility and open your mind up to more options, cultivating positive emotions also optimizes health and well being.

Wikipedia describes Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) as,

Positive Thinking Zig Zigler Quote

… that philosophy assures that an optimistic disposition in every situation in one’s life attracts positive changes and increases achievement. Adherents employ a state of mind that continues to seek, find, and execute ways to win, or find a desirable outcome, regardless of the circumstances. Optimism and hope are vital in the development of PMA.

For more on PMA from Wikipedia, read here.

In fact, research, like this 2011 American Psychology (NIH) study have often noticed and confirmed a compounding effect or an upward spiral that occurs with positive and happy people.  Using the broaden-and-build theory, their emotions are positive, so they develop new skills, those skills lead to new successes and more new skills and more new successes which results in more happiness, and the process repeats itself continuing to spiral upwards.  This 2011 Clinical Psychology Review (NIH) study does exactly that.

People can intentionally increase their positivity ratios by learning to widen their attention lens to encompass more of the pleasurable, interesting, and meaningful experiences in life, making the painful and dissatisfying ones smaller and less influencing, by comparison.

In so doing, people learn to self-generate upward spirals that resonate within themselves and between themselves and others to increase their odds of being successful. In other words, remaining positive and happy is the precursor to success and the result of it. As hypothesized, in this Perspective Individual Differences study (NIH) PMA and positive coping did mutually build on one another, as did PMA and interpersonal trust.

Contrary to expectation, PMA did not demonstrate an upward spiral relation with social support, however, found a 2011 Perspective In Individual Differences (NIH) study. Results suggest further study of the relationship between PA and changes in dopamine metabolite levels over time is warranted.

Subconscious Mind and Positive Thinking

The subconscious mind is the part of the human mind that handles lots of mental processes without the awareness of the individual involved.  It’s also known as the unconscious mind, per a 2008 Perspectives In Psychological Sciences (NIH) study. What goes on in that part of the mind can go a long way to influencing the conscious mind, thoughts, actions and feelings of the individual involved.

In fact, the conscious mind only uses 5 percent of the brain, whereas, the subconscious mind controls 95 percent of the brain and decision-making may be a process handled to a large extent by unconscious mental activity, found a 2008 Max-Planck-Gesellschaft research! The subconscious would seem to be of high functional value, especially as default behavioral tendencies when the conscious mind, as is its wont, travels away from the present environment into the past or the future.

Powerful Subconscious Mind

It is nice to know that the unconscious is minding the store when the owner is absent according to a 2008 Perspective Psychology Science study reviewed by the NIH.

In nature, the “unconscious mind” is the rule, not the exception.

Did you know, according to scientists, the human brain can hold as much information as the Internet did circa 2007. When you think about it, not knowing consciously what it’s doing, could be scary!

But, don’t fret, as you will learn shortly, you do have the ability to influence it’s actions.  Isn’t that reassuring, according to the experts, like this Wiley Library “Mind and Language” study, we can assert some control over the unconscious mind, if we choose to do so!  There are lots of processes that go on in the subconscious, according to a Journal Psyche “Freud’s Model of the Human Mind” research.  Among them include unconscious attitudes, unconscious feelings, unconscious thoughts, unnoticed perceptions, involuntary actions, automatic reactions, and a lot more.  Most of these processes can be going on in your subconscious mind without you being aware of them.

Mind Over Matter

One thing you need to know about the subconscious is, it can’t distinguish between “reality” and “non-reality”, and that you can tap into its powers and use that to achieve a better healthy mind and body, and a desired success.  You can command the unconscious mind using PMA for a desired outcome which intern ensure your success in life. The thoughts and actions that you put into your schedule on a daily basis are what trains your subconscious mind.

To break from this perceived setting, you need to re-wire your brain with such affirmative sentences. What is known famously as the “confirmation bias”, the subconscious mind just perceives everything the way you make it feel. Short and positive affirmations repeated to yourselves over the course of the day is a great way to train your subconscious mind for success in all the activities that you undertake. One of the key psychological theories behind positive affirmations is the self-affirmation theory, found a 2006 ResearchGate “The Psychology of Self-Defense: Self-Affirmation Theory” research. Sometimes conscious beliefs are healthy and other times, they work against us.

According to a 2009 Elsevier “Reticular Activating System” research, the good news is that there is a part of the brain called the “Reticular Activating System” or the RAS and part of its role is to actively seek out the information that you related to it. So, if you want to change a belief into a better outcome the RAS can be your greatest asset according to a 2019 PsycCentral “An Introduction to the Neuroscience Behind Creating Your Reality” study! Quoting the study:

Incredible Healing Power Of Positive Thinking

The RAS transmits information between the conscious and subconscious minds and the other beautiful thing about it is that it doesn’t question you at all. Whatever you tell it, it will believe because it does not distinguish between fact and fiction. It simply obeys commands from your conscious mind.

One major way you can engage in commanding the subconscious mind is through speaking or relating “intent” and by guarding against what enters your subconscious.  Although you may not be aware of how images and impressions reach the unconscious mind, just know what you profess and how you act matters.

You need to avoid every negative idea, image, thought, picture and feedback and emphasize intent.  When you set your intent you are directing your RAS to stretch towards your desired goal and future, and to also enjoy the journey getting there, according to a 2012 NLP Institute “Neuroscience and Creating An Optimal Future For Yourself” study.

To gain an experience in speaking to yourself and how it should be done by setting your intent and positively programming your RAS, try saying the following three sentences to yourself:

“I hope to enjoy my dinner tonight.” Notice how you actually think about this using your internal pictures, voices, and feelings.

“I want to enjoy dinner tonight.” Notice how you actually think about this using your internal pictures, voices, and feelings what is different from the first question?

“I intend to enjoy my dinner tonight.” Notice how you actually think about this using your internal pictures, voices, and feelings and what is different from the first two questions?

Now, pay attention to how each of these simple changes in your language creates a very different experience.  For most people, the first question will produce some doubt because multiple images will appear in your mind representing different possibilities of one is that you may enjoy dinner and the other one being that you won’t.

Expressing “Intent” To Get Where You Want To Go

When you say in 2nd option, “I want to enjoy dinner tonight,” you will typically see what you want in the future, but you may not see yourself having it now. The future then may feel compelling because you see what you want. But there is still some room for doubt because it is more difficult to put yourself into the actual experience of achieving it.

The third option of intending (no doubt) to enjoy your dinner should put you into the act of fully enjoying your experience and being present to it.

Intending for something to happen will generally associate you into the experience of achieving your goal and all the feelings, images and sounds that go with it. Quoting the research:

When you set your intent, you are marrying your subconscious mind with your conscious will to make something happen. It is like you are sending your RAS a message that you are “expecting” the event to happen, and there is absolutely no room for uncertainty.

One very effective tool that you can also use to change a belief is listening to audio narrative such a meditation recording or an affirmation recording, according to a 2017 Frontiers In Psychology (NIH) study, for example. The NIH reviewed study confirmed the effectiveness of listening to music-based recording interventions to improve symptoms of depression. This works best in the last five minutes before you go to sleep and in the first five minutes upon waking because that is when the subconscious mind is most receptive to information.

You can prime your brain to develop the neurons, neural pathways, and neuroplasticity per a 2016 Penn State University Cognitive Psychology paper, that you prefer to have by doing things like listening to audio at these times.  If you’re using subliminal images or messages or affirmations in your Power From Positive Thinking strategy, make sure they are no negative ones.

It’s vitally important for you to feed on images, ideas, thoughts and messages loaded with positive aspects along with projected intent.  The more you allow your unconscious mind to assimilate such positive resources, the easier it is for you to achieve the mastery over it and the desired result, found a 2018 University of California Berkeley “How To Use Your Unconscious Mind To Achieve Your Goals” research.

Living Incredible Life With PMA

According to a 2015 Sage Journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin study discovered spending just a few minutes thinking about your best qualities before a high-pressure meeting or a performance review, for example, can calm your nerves, increase your confidence, and improve your chances of a successful outcome.

Implement the daily practice of using positive affirmations. This can go a long way to getting yourself rid of all forms of phobias, or misconceptions, that can trigger failure in your life. Self-affirmation may also help to mitigate the effects of stress particularly in problem-solving situations found a 2013 PLOS|ONE “Self-Affirmation Improves Problem-Solving under Stress” study.

Learn more from Wikipedia on the function of the subconscious mind, in which they also suggest that the subconscious mind is an powerful and potent agency, and tapping into it’s knowledge or power is advantageous, and using “auto-suggestion” and “affirmations”,

harnesses the power of the subconscious to influence a person’s life and real-world outcomes, even curing sickness.

You have to avoid negative affirmations at all cost since they can easily poison your subconscious and render it impotent or misinformed or less receptive to mistakes, as confirmed in a 2012 Association For Psychological Sciences “Self-Affirmation Enhances Performance, Makes Us Receptive to Our Mistakes” research.  Commanding the subconscious mind to gain positive thinking also hinges on the kinds of words you use on daily basis.  You have to be very careful of what you say not only to others, but also to yourself.  I mean, we all talk to ourselves, don’t we? So, why not build yourself up, not “down”.

Take time to choose words that affirm positive actions at all times.  For instance, if you’re hoping to achieve success and prosperiety in every area of your life, you have to be using prosperity-reflecting words on a daily basis, using intent, projecting the desired outcome.  This goes a long way to influencing your thinking pattern for the better outcome.

The Awesome Healing Power Of Being Positive

You have to not only think positively all the time, but your actions have to be also positive in nature, and in accordance to what you desire.

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.

A plethora of scientific research has been done to provide cold, hard evidence that positive thinking (PMA) makes people truly healthier and happier. Take a look at the following health benefits of positive thinking below.

Lower Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease

A positive view of life and aging may help you live longer, according to the T H Chan Harvard Medical School 2007 study. Dr. Laura Kubzansky, professor of social and behavioral sciences at Harvard and her peers have found that emotional vitality, characterized by enthusiasm, hopefulness, engagement in life, and the ability to face life’s stresses with emotional balance, is associated with a substantially reduced risk of heart attack and stroke in 6025 participants.

A John Hopkins Medical School “Power Of Positive Thinking” study has similar results finding even in people with family history who had the most risk factors for coronary artery disease, and positive people from the general population were 13 percent less likely than their negative counterparts to have a heart attack or other coronary event.

Boost the Immune System

With health issues are almost to epidemic proportions worldwide, current medical research such as a 2020 Mayo Clinic “Positive Thinking: Stop Negative Self-Talk To Reduce Stress” research has focused on ways the immune system functions are weakened by stress and how it can be approved.

Healthy Immune System

In a similar effect, psychological studies show that people recover from illnesses such as flu and colds faster and are less symptomatic than compared with people who have a more negative thought process, according to 2008 Annual Review of Clinical Psychology (NIH) study.

Contrary to what most people think, positive thoughts are not just whimsical mental images that make you feel good although they can make you happy which is also vitally important.  A Scientific America 2013 paper entitled “How Happiness Boosts the Immune System” pretty much says it all.

Recent research has shown that our thoughts can provide relief beyond the superficial and temporary.  A 2007 Brain Behavior Immunology (NIH) study found that the more positive people expected their futures to be, the better their mood, the fewer their psychiatric symptoms, and the better their adjustment to diverse situations. When you consider that the average human being thinks approximately 60,000 thoughts per day, the impact our thoughts have on both our mental and immune system health becomes clear.

Lower Blood Pressure

By practicing positive thinking, stress becomes less of a factor in your life. As a result, all of those negative side effects from stress also become irrelevant.  Heart disease, high blood pressure, and other heart-related issues will become less significant, if not eliminated completely.

It’s not just a state of mind, but positive thinking can literally save your life by particularly lowering stress found a 2917 American Heart Association “Know Your Risks For High Blood Pressure” study (AHA).  Research published in a 2007 Psychosomatic Medicine (NIH) has found a link between a positive attitude, and, an upbeat mental state and improved health, including lowering blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease, healthier weight, better blood sugar levels, and longer life.

Having A Positive Healthy Fun Stress Free Time On Beach

Reduces Depression In Diabetes Patients

According to a 2016 Journal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences (NIH) study, type 2 diabetic patients in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, attitudes toward the disease were positive, and this was positively associated and most respondents believed they are responsible for their care. It is likely that a high quality of diabetes self-management education program will provide benefits and affect significantly on type 2 diabetes patients.

Prior studies, like another NIH reviewed 2014 Journal of Education and Health Promotion study, showed that, for people with diabetes, positive feelings were associated with better control of blood sugar, an increase in physical activity and healthy eating, less use of tobacco and a lower risk of dying.

Positive attitude towards diabetes management and support from friends and family were associated with adequate diabetes management according to a 2016 BMC Residential Notes study reviewed by the NIH.

Increase Resilience

People who have positive thoughts are emotionally well, and also have better coping skills. As a result, they are better at healing after a medical setback.  Not only is the immune system improved, but healing after surgical procedures, fractures, and other acute injuries have been shown to be quicker than negative counterparts. Harvard Medical School has an excellent 2019 study, “The Mental Side of Recovery”.

People who are emotionally well, experts say, have fewer negative emotions and are able to bounce back from difficulties faster.  This is what resilience is.  One study published in the journal of Psychological Science, reviewed by NIH, showed how 124 law students experienced better immune system function and resilience by maintaining an optimistic attitude.

Spiraling Up Effects Of Success Begets Success

A 2007 Brain Behavioral Immunity reviewed by the NIH analyses revealed that the experience of positive emotions contributed, in part, to participants’ abilities to achieve efficient emotion regulation, demonstrated by accelerated cardiovascular recovery from negative emotional arousal and by finding positive meaning in negative circumstances.

Yet another 2007 Journal of Perspective study also reviewed by the NIH found demonstrated that positive emotions play a crucial role in enhancing coping resources in the face of negative events.

Another sign of emotional wellness is being able to hold onto positive emotions longer and appreciate the good times. Developing a sense of meaning and purpose in life, and focusing on what’s important to you, also contributes to emotional wellness. Dr. Suzanne Segerstrom, a University Of Kentucky psychologist and leader of the study, had the to say about the results:

This dynamic relationship between expectancies and immunity has positive implications for psychological interventions to improve health — particularly those that increase positive affect.

Positive Emotions For H.I.V. Patients

How does lack of knowledge and education effect affect people negatively on the risks of HIV? According to a 2019 study published in the African Journal of Primary Health Care and Family Medicine (NIH) in Ghana, youths aged 15–24 years constitute the group most vulnerable to HIV infection. Inadequate knowledge, negative attitudes and risky practices are major hindrances to preventing the spread of HIV.

Participants generally had inadequate knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS, manifested negative attitudes towards PLHIV and also engaged in risky practices that might predispose them to HIV transmission. Our findings underscore the need for culturally adapted and age-oriented basic HIV information for youths in the metropolis on misconceptions about HIV transmission, negative attitudes of students towards PLHIV as well as the risky practices of students regarding HIV.

Whatever the Mind Can Conceive It Can achieve

2014 research from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, studied 159 people who had recently learned they had H.I.V. and randomly assigned them to either a five-session “positive emotions training”, involving learning 8 positive-inducing skills in the course, or five sessions of general support.

Fifteen months past their H.I.V. diagnosis, those trained in the 8 skills experienced higher levels of positive feelings and fewer negative thoughts related to their infection. An important goal of the training is to help people feel happy, calm and satisfied in the midst of a health crisis. Those 8 skills are referenced in the “positive action” section above denoted with a (*).

Promote Longevity

In one 2018 Oxford Academics “Survival Advantage Mechanism” study, more than 4,000 people 50 and older published last year in the Journal of Gerontology, researchers at the Yale School of Public Health demonstrated that having a positive view of aging can have a beneficial influence on health outcomes and longevity.

Psychologically, a positive view can enhance belief in one’s abilities, decrease perceived stress, reducing inflammation, and foster healthful behaviors. This is due to a culmination of all of these physical benefits that allow you to enjoy improved health and physical function longer into your golden years.

Another study showed that optimistic older adults are 55 percent less likely to die earlier than their gloomier counterparts. A 2016 “How Power of Positive Thinking Works” study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology by the T.H. Chan School Of Public Health, found that women who were optimistic had a significantly reduced risk of dying from several major causes of death.

These major causes of death included cancer, heart disease, stroke, respiratory disease, and infection, which occurred over an eight-year period, compared with women who were less optimistic. The study analyzed 70,000 nurses and determined the most optimistic women had a nearly 30 percent lower risk of dying from any of the diseases analyzed in the study compared with the least optimistic.

Enhance Pain Tolerance

Nobody wants to have to tolerate pain, but there are times where you might not have a choice.  Let’s say you over extend yourself on that new workout fad and you wake up barely able to move.  Using a positive thinking mindset, you can reduce the focus on pain and discomfort.

The NIH confirmed in a review of a 2016 study published in the Clinical Journal of Pain that having a positive attitude is beneficial in dealing with pain, in both the perception of pain and the negative affective response to pain, whereas the absence of PMA exposes vulnerable, low resiliency patients to poor pain-related outcomes.

Positive thinking has proven to change the livelihood of those suffering from chronic pain in one’s lifestyle, brain chemistry, and health through CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) combined with physical therapy found a 2010 ResearchGate Lancet study.

Increases Leadership Skills

People who harness the Power From Positive Thinking, attract other positive people, and  are more likely to be hired for jobs in a leadership position, found a 2010 Project Manager Institute “The Power In Being A Positive Leader” study.  Similarly, people with more positive thoughts are more likely to be promoted to a leadership position.  Studies show that positive people who are leaders, are more likely to be followed by their employees.

One 2015 Harvard Business Review “Positive Teams Are More Productive” study published in the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science showed evidence that positive practices do, in fact, predict organizational performance, by increasing positive emotions in staff, buffered them against negative events, and attracted and bolstered staff, by making them more loyal and productive.

Another example is that salespeople who are positive have more sales than those who are perceived as negative according to one 2011 JSTOR Journal of Managerial Issues study. In this example, the study found that certain characteristics of automobile sales personnel do indeed influence customer positive emotion such as trustworthiness, empathy, and professional appearance are observed to be positively related to customers’ positive emotion but the reverse is also true with negative characteristics.

Enjoy Life More

People who have more positive thoughts have an overall better love for life, and actually live longer because they are happy and enjoy living, determined a 2016 Social Science Medicine (NIH) study.  According to a 2020 Mayo Clinic “Positive Thinking: Stop Negative Self-Talk To Reduce Stress” study health benefits that positive thinking may provide include: increased life span, lower rates of depression, lower levels of distress, greater resistance to the common cold, better psychological and physical well-being, better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease, and better coping skills during hardships and times of stress….. all likely to bring an enjoyable life.

Healthy Positive Enjoy Life Attitude

They are often more socially outgoing, interacting with people and their community, and enjoying their lives, social contacts, environment, and surroundings to the fullest.

Enhances Self Esteem

Self-esteem is a natural by-product of positive thinking. If you think positively, then you will have more confidence in yourself and in the situation you are in.  The NIH, in reviewing a 2004 Philosophical Transactions B study, refers to it as the “broaden and build” theory with positive emotions, including joy, interest, contentment and love.

In other words, quoting the study,

joy sparks the urge to play, interest sparks the urge to explore, contentment sparks the urge to savor and integrate, and love sparks a recurring cycle of each of these urges within safe, close relationships, building self-esteem and optimizing health and well being.

And, again, people are attracted to people with a healthy dose of self-esteem.  Just make sure to keep your self-esteem in check before it turns into arrogance and you lose those people you attracted.  You will not be guilty of negative self-talk any longer or continuing the habit of criticizing yourself or comparing yourself to others.  Instead, you will banish the harsh words swirling in and around your brain by using positive affirmations, for example.

Positive affirmations have been successfully used to treat individuals with low self-esteem, depression, and other mental health conditions according to a 2001 Journal of American College of Health study reviewed by the NIH, as they have been shown to stimulate the areas in our brains that make us more likely to effect positive changes in regard to our health.

Another 2020 Oxford Academics Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience study found that using affirmations developed a stronger sense of self-worth and makes individuals more likely to improve their own well-being. So, for example, if you’re worried that you eat too much and don’t get enough exercise at work, using affirmations to remind yourself of your values can spur you on to change your unhealthy behaviors.

PMA and Healthy Truthful Communicating Has To Be There

Creates Healthier Relationships

Relationships are perhaps the most difficult thing in life for many people to master, but having and maintaing a positive attitude will attract other positive people, which reinforces your own positive attitude.

Studies, like a 2019 Victoria State Government “Relationships and Communication” study show that people with a positive outlook not only find their perfect partner, but stay married longer.  You can also put those interpersonal skills to good use in the workplace by forging positive relationships with coworkers and potential clients.

Promotes Better Habits

With the Power From Positive Thinking comes more social awareness and better coping skills.  People make better decisions with such things as drinking, exercising, and eating better.  They are more socially aware of their actions and how they are perceived.  They are less likely to give in to social pressures that aren’t good for them.

Their decision making skills are more detailed and objective and geared to a better overall outcome for everyone involved.  According to 2013 Experimental Neurobiology study reviewed by the NIH being optimistic will allow you to smile or laugh at life’s circumstances, particularly during challenging moments, or disappointments because our survival and wellness require a balance between optimism and pessimism.

Undue pessimism makes life miserable; however, excessive optimism can lead to dangerously risky behaviors, as well, found a 2013 Experimental Neurobiology (NIH) study.  You will be able to find humor in everyday scenarios and focus on laughing and smiling rather than stressing and complaining.

The Physical and Social Aspects Begin To Intertwine As Well.

As you have more social opportunities and develop more relationships, you tend to celebrate life a little more.  Your stress goes down as more and more positive things happen for you.  Your overall health is now increased and you feel better than ever, beginning the healthy “spiraling-up” effect, per a 2011 American Psychology (NIH) study.  One positive effect leads to another, then another….and another. And when something happens that affects your health, you are now able to cope and heal faster than before.

Healthy Half-Full Attitude

Above all, the positive thinking lifestyle takes effort, but is an effort well worth it. This amazing spiraling-up effect was again confirmed in a 2013 Association for Psychological Science “Social Connections Drive the ‘Upward Spiral’ of Positive Emotions and Health” study; which found people who experience warmer, more upbeat emotions may have better physical health because they make more social connections consistently.

Famous Positive Thinking Quotes To Get You In The Right Frame Of Mind:

The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

Winston Churchill

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.

Albert Einstein

A man is but the product of histhoughts; what he thinks, he becomes.

Mahatma Gandhi

I am an optimist. It does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Winston Churchill

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.

Willie Nelson

The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.

Benjamin Franklin

Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success.

Dr. Joyce Brothers

Are you now convinced of the importance of always keeping a positive attitude?  If not, let me relate an example of my personal experience with PMA that may help convince you.

optimistic attitude

Retired now, I spent thirty five years in a very successful outside sales career.  I regularly used PMA before I would have an important sales call by speaking out loud to myself, to my subconscious mind, looking into the mirror and professing in a very direct way, the desired “intent” and outcome of the sales call.

Using the Power From Positive Thinking,  can you believe, at least 80 percent of the time, what I had professed in the mirror, actually did occur, because my subconscious mind took my intent and made it a reality?

I could tell you some interesting stories of how my subconscious mind would provide my conscious mind with directions or solutions enabling me to convince the buyer and securing a sale.

The amazing thing is some of these solutions were quite unconventional  and even risky to my normally conservative mind.   Can you believe?   If you can think it, you can achieve it!

We leave you today with a short video from Dr. Wayne Dyer, where he discusses “positive affirmations” to say to yourself 5 minutes before you fall asleep each night (2). Check it out!  Please leave your questions and comments below.
