What is natural health about? My mission in this article is to answer that question, by providing you with recommendations and solutions to many of the health concerns predominant in every corner of the world today. Some of the health issues which plague many of us in our modern, fast-paced, 24-7 world, such as hormone imbalance, loss of energy, digestive problems, weakened immune system, osteoporosis, memory loss, unmanageable stress, bouts of anxiety and depression, symptoms of menopause, low fertility, erectile dysfunction, to name a few, are treatable and manageable, and are actually curable with the proper health regimen.
As a point of reference, Wikipedia’s definition of health is, “Health is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), ‘is the state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.’ Health may be defined as the ability to adapt and manage physical, mental, and social challenges throughout life.” For more information from Wikipedia on health, read here.
What is the Root of Most of the World’s Health Concerns?
Let me pose a question to you to think about. With all the modern-day advancements in technology, science, and medicine, why are more and more people are becoming ill? My name is Terry, and I have always firmly believed in supplementing my diet with fresh natural organic foods, natural organic herbs, and natural organic supplements……today commonly referred to as “super foods.” I was fortunate enough to grow up in a fairly rural area, and I learned at a very early age the importance of having fresh, clean, and healthy nutritional foods to eat, grown in rich, organic soil, and void of fertilizers and chemical additives.
These nutritional foods included fresh meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, and fruits. Unless you now live on a farm or in a rural area, which few of us are fortunate enough to be able to do any more, and buying and eating everything fresh and organic, let me assure you, you are not getting the proper nutrition from the foods you now eat.
There are many factors which can affect your overall health and well being, and I’ll be discussing those in detail in the next couple of weeks. For now you should know, unhealthy eating and lack of physical activity are considered the leading causes of death in the U.S. Poor diet, poor eating habits, and lack of good nutrition contributes to 678,000 deaths each year in the U.S.
The fresher the food is, the higher the nutritional value, and if bought directly from a small farmer, the foods are unlikely to have preservatives, hormones, genetically-modified (GMOs), chemicals, or dyes applied to the food. Fresh foods mean maximum nutritional value, not 65% of the nutritional value. Yes, that’s right! It is generally accepted foods loose as much as 35% of their nutritional value from the time it leaves the farm field, and, according to modern industry standards, transported sometimes thousands of miles in refrigerated trucks, even a week to ten days later, before it arrives on your grocery shelf for your purchase.
Many of our food available today for purchase because of convenience is precooked, prepackaged, pre-processed, and fast foods. The nutritional value, the vitamins, the trace elements, and the phytonutrients, required for good health, are lost in these types of foods, due to modern-day food handling practices, such as refrigeration, freezing, and application of chemicals and preservatives, to extend shelf-life. In addition, most of the foods available today and found in supermarkets, are grown large-scale and commercially, in mostly nutrient-deprived soil, with chemical fertilizers and additives, added to the soils.
As stated before, even the fresh-looking fruits and vegetables you buy in your favorite grocery store, are not fresh as you think, or as they may look, when you buy them. Most likely, these foods have been on at least a thousand-mile journey from, no telling where to you, in refrigirated trucks traveling over weeks of time, before they reach your grocery shelf. And in the process, loosing most of the nutrients, vitamins and trace elements. Can you now see why nutrition-deprived foods may be one of the main culprit in the outbreak of health concerns world wide today?
What Can You Do?
Limit, or better yet, avoid eating “fast-foods” which are predominately pre packaged, pre cooked, pre frozen, and
reheated foods, when they are served to you. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall months, you should locate a small, roadside farmer’s stand, and buy the freshest produce you can locate. Or, even better, plant your own vegetable garden in good, rich, organic soil in the spring and fall. In addition, locate a reliable small specialty market selling fresh organic meats, poultry, and fish and routinely buy from them. For an example of one of these specialty markets, read this review, “What Is In Maca Root?”
Cook your own healthy meals with a meat, poultry, or fish and several vegetables, and may be some fresh fruits as dessert. Besides being healthy, fresh tastes so much better. Have you ever taken a bite out of a fresh ear of corn, compared to a frozen ear of corn you’ve just microwaved? Night and day difference isn’t there? For added assurance, in maintaining your health, supplement your diet with the best “superfood” you can locate and buy.
